JUNE 30th - Paradiso, Amsterdam HOL

After 4 hours driving trough the rainy Germany (I thing we left the good weather behind in Munich) we arrived in Amsterdam. Looking for Paradiso didn't seem so difficult then finding a parking spot. One thing about Amsterdam: parking your car there is very expensive!!

Because we were pretty early in Amsterdam we decided to do some shopping and sightseeing, cause it was the first time I visited Amsterdam (Kathleen had been there before) We figured out the doors of Paradiso would open at 7:30PM so there was plenty of time left! But keeping in mind the gig was sold out and I wanted to be in front to take some good pictures we waited for the doors to open at 7PM. While we were waiting we met this two lovely Americans Sylvie and a guy from SF whose name I forgot :S) Really nice people, we had a great time with them. And well the gig was...well as you might have seen on the webcast...extra-ordinary.

The setlist was amazing: the band played 'Family affair', with a female guest vocalist, which is a really rare live song. They also played the 'Armageddon version' of 'Bomb the world', which I really liked. It was the first time I heard that song live. At the end of the show a Dutch Saxophone player joined the band for a few songs, which made the evening into something really special.  Another thing I loved on that show was the crowd. There was so much love and vibe in the air. People hugging, people sharing water (because the temperature was getting hotter and hotter to the end!) I never felt that on a gig ever before in my young life! At the end of the show Radio and Michael took off their shirt and started waving with it. A few minutes later many other's in the crowd followed their example. Another funny thing: During 'Taxi Radio' RadioActive jumped into the crowd and started shaking and dancing with the people down there. Just awesome!!

After a 3 1/2 (!!) hour show we drove back to Belgium for 2 hours to sleep in our own bed! I was getting back to Amsterdam when I woke up that moring cause Michael, Dave and Radio were doing an acoustic instore gig in Amsterdam.

I actually miss the words to describe the gig, it was wicked!! You can see and listen to the show webcasted by Fabchannel, so you can see for yourself how great this show was... - Johan

Funny thing on the setlist: note the 'People in da miggle'. The real setlist will be online soon. I need to check my recording for that, cause 'I don't know how they do it' but every time they play a way different show than stated on their setlist.
